A new technology introduced by the J.S. Pickey Corporation revolutionizes the way we power our cars. Rather than the old hydrogen fuel, which requires drivers to carry car water with them or stop at refueling stations, the new HumanBio Fuel cars rely on something every driver already carries with them: urine.  

J.S. Pickey, one of the largest car water suppliers, came up with this new alternative fuel on a whim. Pickey’s vice-president, Samuel Theodore ran out of car water fuel on a cross-country drive from Buffalo to Los Angeles. Because of the recent drought, Midwest fuel stations were out of car water fuel. Theodore found himself stranded in the middle of Nebraska without the ability to refuel his car for at least two weeks while Pickey Stations waited for the supply to arrive. Theodore states, “It was either come up with a new way to fuel my car, or miss the Global Energy Summit in San Diego. I chose the former.”

Recalling technology under development in Singapore since the early parts of this century, Theodore adapted the usage of urine batteries to a larger scale. The original battery, used in medical testing kits, relied upon a chemical reaction between urine and copper chloride to produce an electrical charge. Theodore found that the small battery was quite energy efficient (producing about as much energy as a standard AA battery.) Desperate for an alternative to car water, Theodore began drawing up a plan for a larger scale battery utilizing urine.  

While Theodore eventually abandoned his hydrogen fuel vehicle in Nebraska in order to make his conference on time, he did draw up plans for this new fuel for the car, and called J.S. Pickey president, John Pickey, in order to get the ball rolling in research and development. At first, Pickey was skeptical. Theodore says, “John Pickey wasn’t sure that the public would be interested in HumanBio Fuel. He thought there would be no way we could market such a thing. I wound up selling him on the point of efficiency.”

 Because the electricity depends upon the byproduct of the chemical reaction, this fuel is 50 times more efficient than car water fuel. It also outperforms the old car water fuel by getting 50% more miles per gallon. This alone ought to appeal to the general consumer. With water prices skyrocketing due to global droughts, and conservation in effect, this water fuel alternative is appealing to the pocketbook. These points sold Pickey right away, and the research on converting urine to energy powerful enough to move motor vehicles was underway.

Because urine is the source of fuel for the new engines, drivers will be able to refuel on their own if necessary. J.S. Pickey also plans to have HumanBio fuel available at fueling stations alongside car water. They will charge a fraction of the price for car water, reflecting the cheap technology they use in order to collect and purify urine. The fueling stations will have options of purchasing the HumanBio Fuel pre-mixed with the reactant, or just purchasing the reactant to use with the driver’s own HumanBio Fuel. 

General Motors is now manufacturing cars utilizing the technology for HumanBio fuel in Michigan. They are proud to be on the cutting edge of this technology. Their cars will come with portable HumanBio fuel collection and purification kits. While these cars are pricier than their hydrogen based fuel cousins, they promise drivers will save money in the end.  

J.S. Pickey released a statement regarding its commitment to change. This statement claims that the first 100 customers to have their vehicles converted from utilizing car water fuel to HumanBio fuel will receive the complementary upgrade and a three months’ supply of reactant. They will also receive a complimentary portable HumanBio fuel collection and purification kits.
